Good review, Jane. :-)

So is your film review usually consist of three-fifths plot description and two-fifths opinion? And has it worked well for your readers?

I see 3/5 Geckos and that's as far as I'll go before I decide if I'll review "Hamlet 2." I'm not sure yet which film I'll review this week. I might be masochistic and go see "Disaster Movie." We'll see.

I try not to read reviews of a film that I know I'm going to want to review myself. As far as I'll usually go is checking the Tomato-Meter or seeing the number of stars, letter grade, or, in your case, geckos.

I'll be more than happy to give you some comments, though, either after I write my review of it or decide to do a different film.

David, I'm the same way. Review the movie yourself, then read other people's reviews. Otherwise, you might inadvertently get ideas from someone else.

I read it just because I might not see it anytime soon.

Anthony - Well, I have almost a million unique page hits a month on Film Gecko (I'll pass that mark in September, dammit!), and 300 print and online pubs who get the syndicated family movie column. So I guess the readers are liking the description/opinion ratio. :-)

David - My 14-yo son loved Disaster Movie, if that tells you anything. I haven't seen it yet, but he's begging me to go.

Yeah, I don't read reviews before I write mine either. But occasionally, I'll find excerpts of MY reviews in other peoples' reviews. Sometimes they swipe the whole review! Incredible.
