David's look at the politics of director Steven Soderbergh

My newest Front Page piece, focusing on political themes in the films of Steven Soderbergh.

Wow. That's a very detailed in-depth look at Soderbergh's films. It's funny how I saw some of the films mentioned and I never really bothered to look at it from a political angle. I'm sure others who feel this way would be enlightened by your article. :-)

Well it's not that in-depth. There was a lot more territory that I could've explored and other films of his I could've talked about but I just wanted to give a basic overview. There were many other films' of his that I didn't discuss at all. If I were to ever write a book devoted to this subject (political themes in films) then I'd expand this article to chapter length and discuss all of his films in greater depth.

You probably didn't look at the films in a political context because you didn't have a reason to. These left-wing themes are always at the margins of Soderbergh's films, usually not super prominent. But when he makes a 4 1/2 hour film glorifying one of the Left's biggest symbols then it draws attention to these themes in his previous films.
